There are a few breeds to seriously look at if you desire to adopt a dog that doesn't shed. And, there are a few breeds you should know about if you just can't handle excessive dog hair being around the house. First, those dog breeds that shed less: There are a lot of them, and you should be able to find one whose energy and maintenance level is comparable to yours. (continue reading)		Baltic Rescue: Stray Dog Survives 75-Mile Journey on Ice Floe in Poland by Danny Davids(41) Polar icecaps are melting. The polar bears are running out of ice. I'm guessing that if you make those comments to Baltic, he'll respond with a shake of his head and a low growl. Who's Baltic? He's the stray male dog that a group of Polish ocean research scientists rescued from an ice floe in the Baltic Sea. It's believed he started his odyssey at least 75 miles away, somewhere upstream along Poland's Vistula River. Firefighters in the town of Grudziadz noticed the dog floating on the ice last Saturday. Bobby Little Bear Silverheels by Marijo Phelps(30) Our thirteen year old blue eyed baby had given up her fight with kidney failure in early December. She died peacefully at home (her story Monochrome Snow Day and Katy Going). We had never had a Christmas kitten and from looking at my hubby’s determined face there wouldn’t be one under the tree this year either. “Three is enough." He was referring to our remaining twelve paws, feline, of course, that roamed the house. Yes, they were trained to stay off any surface that might have food on it. (continue reading)		Bobcat Captured in Houston, Texas Parking Garage by Jane Webb(44) Downtown Houston, Texas is not where you would expect to see a bobcat, unless it was in captivity, but today, one visited the concrete jungle. The young animal was mistaken for a large domestic cat at first, but soon watchers realized it was indeed a bobcat. To capture the animal, BARC, Houston's animal control entity, used a tranquilizer gun. When the cat continued to roam, a stronger med was used that eventually sedated the bobcat. After the bobcat was captured, it was taken to a vet, then released at the Brazos Bend State Park.
