ColumnistDo Top Trendiest Dog Names Fit the Most Popular Dog Breeds?
by Lorrie Davids(686) Blue Star

Looking at a list of the trendiest dog names for 2012 made me wonder what breeds people were adopting. Some of the names just didn't seem to fit with what was in my mind for a favorite breed. So, I did a little checking and found that Bulldogs and Boxers are included on the most popular breed lists. That explains it, to a point. For instance, I couldn't see a Pomeranian named " Tank " or " Diesel " , (both popular dog names for this year) but since Poms are way down at number 8 on one list of popular small dog breeds I found, it makes more sense. I've never met a Pom named Tank, but I have met a Daisy and a Lily. Yorkies and Shih Tzu are the top listed breeds for small and large dogs... (read the rest of what Lorrie Davids wrote.)

For the Dog Who Loves the Outdoors Even in Bad Weather
by Jay Anderson(39)

Dogs have individual personalities in the same way that we do. In general, most thrive on exercise, love being around humans (and you in particular) and being part of a pack. Some like being couch potatoes (even if their breed suggests otherwise), some are loners and some prefer living outside. Instinct plays a role in dogs’ personalities, this is true. Try as we might to domesticate them, to train them and to make them great pack members, some are just who they are. And as they mature, puppies who couldn’t stand being away from you for more than five minutes can grow to be independent and even loners. Even dogs who are from the same litter can grow to have very distinct... (read the rest of what Jay Anderson wrote.)

ColumnistOurs for a Time and a Season, Stormy Blue
by Marijo Phelps(10)

Our beautiful blue eyed boy quit eating a couple days ago. this has happened before and usually the expulsion of a nasty hair ball fixes him right up and life goes on. This time, however, it was followed by his meowing and going to the water bowl, sticking his head inside and then not drinking more that a few sips. He was not going to the litter to either. No, he wasn't going anywhere else. Our boy has had kidney troubles for a couple of years and perhaps we should be glad he was chasing around the house last week with the other cats and jumping on the bed even with his arthritic hip where Katy had dumped a heavy wooden ladder on him in his kittenhood. I wasn't glad as we begin... (read the rest of what Marijo Phelps wrote.)

ColumnistA Few Reciprocal Quotes For Man's Best Friend
by Joel Hendon(99)

Some people don't like dogs. I can't imagine that. I even love mean dogs...far less than a good one but nevertheless, I just know that the mean one was raised and/or trained wrong. I've always said they are a perfect example of what we should be and I think God gave them to us to teach us that. Anyway, here are some quotes a friend sent me and some express my feelings also. " The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue. " - Anonymous " There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face. " - Ben Williams " A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than they love themselves. " - Josh Billings " The average dog... (read the rest of what Joel Hendon wrote.)
