Another Montauk Monster Found - What Is It?

by Lorrie Davids(663) Blue Star

A second Montauk Monster has washed ashore in New York. According to reports, the carcass was found by a couple in Southold, New York, May 6, 2009. This animal, reportedly resembles the one found last summer, having what looks like a beak and 4 legs.

Nicky Papers has run a blog following news about the Montauk Monster since last summer. Of those who have seen the pictures and videos, we wonder: Is this " animal " some mysterious species we are just finding evidence of its existance? But Nicky has his own question. He wonders if Plum Island is responsible for the " new " creature.

Plum Island Animal Disease Center is part of the U.S Department of Agriculture located at the Northeastern tip of Long Island, New York. Work is done there by vets and scientists to keep our livestock, ranches, farms and farm animals and eventually our food safe.

Plum Island and its entities claim in 50 years of research...er...operation there has never been a pathogen escape. Now back to Nicky Papers.

He and the couple who found the monster would like to have an independant lab run some tests. Papers, who says lyme disease originated on Plum Island, wonders what the lab would find. Is the Montauk Monster a " genetic mishap " the USDA needed to dispose of?

Some wonder why so little is known about the beast, after all, we are a land of research. Is this a viral cover-up? This story may be one to watch. In the meantime, if you have any ideas on what this creature is, leave your comments below.

Hi Lorrie,

Great article and very mysterious. I tend to agree witht the thought of the Papers. Sometimes scientists will do anything undercover to try and produce some varmint they can "prove" is a missing link. Why aren't these things washing up on the Pacific shores, or farther away from NY?

I agree with you, Joel.  At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, it wouldn't surprise me a bit.
