It's time to pack up the family and head to the beach!  Everyone, including your beloved pup gets into the car ready to start their adventure.  Since the hit movie, Marley and Me, the combination of dogs and beach have gotten much attention.  Not many beaches encourage you to bring Fido along.  Following are the top dog friendly beaches in the US.  Is there one near you?

Ft. DeSoto Beach, Florida.  This spot even provides showers and drinking water.  Your dog can be off-leash and mingle with the other pups and people.

St George Island, Florida.  This island is small and welcomes your favorite canine.

Carmel City Beach, California.  This beach is one of a few dog friendly beaches near Carmel.

Cape San Blas, Florida.  This beach, located about 35 miles south of Panama City ( Port St. Joe) is a favorite boasting year-round beach time. You can even take your pooch sailing.

Hunting Island, South Carolina. This area boasted a golf resort nearby to keep the human part of the family happy.

Fort Funston State Park, California.  Near San Francisco, this area boasts hiking trails as well as a beach.

Pistol River State Scenic Viewpoint, Oregon, located south of Gold Beach.

Ft. Fisher State Recreation Area, North Carolina.  Dogs are not allowed in areas with lifeguards.

Jekyll Island, Georgia.  Walking your pup on the 10 miles of beach will ensure you all sleep well at night.

Montrose Dog Beach, Lake Michigan, Chicago, Illinois.  This is an off-leash beach.

Block Island, Rhode Island.  This beach is surprising open year-round.  No motor vehicles are allowed making it an even safer place for you to take your pup.

All listed beaches require you pick up your dog's waste.  It is important to realize your dog may not be ready to be off-leash, especially if going to the beach is a new experience for him.  If you follow the posted guidelines, your entire family, 2 and 4 footed members, will have a great vacation experience!
