Ella, Rottweiler Dog Found and Reunited with Her Family 13 Days after Car Crash
by Lorrie Davids(398)
You hear stories now and then about a pet's loyalty to their humans. The most recent tells about Ella, a rottweiler traveling with her family.
The Kelley family, Joe, Michelle and three children were traveling along I 40 Westbound in Tennessee when their vehicle crashed into a mountain. All the family members were transported to a nearby hospital, but Ella, surely afraid and without her humans ran.
Enter Kathy Wilkes-Myers. Almost two weeks after the accident she spotted Ella along the roadside drinking from a ditch. The location? The crash area. Wilkes-Myers took the dog to her home, along with some things Ella had been hoarding: a lighter, sandel, toothbrushes and comb among them. Since Ella didn't have her family, she could at least have her family's belongings. Also was a notepad with information leading Wilkes-Myers to the Kelley's insurance agent. What followed was a wonderful reunion! All family members will make a full recovery and with Ella back home, the family is complete again. You can see the reunion at the URL below.

This story brought tears to my eyes. But this just goes to show you the love of a animal is so strong and true. I'm glad Ella is back with her family and that her family is ok.Philadelphia,PaRespond to this comment

It takes a dog lover and hero to do what Ms.Wilkes-Myers did, there is a place in heaven for her. Fascinating that Ella would gather up her family's belongings to make a nest, and Ms. Wilkes-Myers would use them to contact the family. Most dogs aren't that fortunate to survive a car crash, when I was 10 yrs.old,my family was in a car crash and my beloved dog, Bucky didn't survive.Respond to this comment

You are right, Susan, I applaud Ms. Wilkes-Myers! Amazing, the nest, isn't it? I am sorry you lost Bucky. That must have been hard. Thanks for reading and commenting, Susan. I'm glad you found this site and hope you come back often.
