Animal CSI? Forensic Science For Animals at University of Florida
by Lorrie Davids(428)
The University of Florida recently announced a new course. The class is an Animal Crime Scene Workshop or animal forensics. If you are a viewer of Animal Planet's Animal Cops programs, you may be thinking it is about time! Crimes against animals is taking on a new importance in many cities. Imagine becoming an ACSI - animal crime scene investigator.
While the coursework is gory, including exhuming animal remains, the reward is great: finding and prosecuting those involved in animal cruelty.
The University is partnering with the ASPCA and will utilize the same resources as human forensics. Hair, fabric fibers, and blood will be scrutinized to any clue to the crime.
According to Bruce Goldberger or UF this program will increase the number of animal forensic professionals by hundreds each year. It is possible animal abusers who abuse people could be found.
Michael Vick's conviction and time served for involvement in dog fighting and the various animal television programs have brought to the forefront the need for college courses such as this.

Thanks, Marijo, for reading and your response. I don't understand those who take any life in, then abuse it.
