Bobcat Captured in Houston, Texas Parking Garage
by Jane Webb(31)Downtown Houston, Texas is not where you would expect to see a bobcat, unless it was in captivity, but today, one visited the concrete jungle.
The young animal was mistaken for a large domestic cat at first, but soon watchers realized it was indeed a bobcat. To capture the animal, BARC, Houston's animal control entity, used a tranquilizer gun. When the cat continued to roam, a stronger med was used that eventually sedated the bobcat.
Bobcats are normally about two times the side of a domestic cat and is identified by thick black bars on its forelegs and a black-tipped tail. It prefers to eat rabbits, but will eat insects, rodents and even deer. Bobcats are territorial and do not live in packs.
Bobcats are indigenous to Houston as are alligators, possums, eagles and a variety of amphibians.
