How to Train Your Dragon - Why It Is A Movie For Pet Lovers

by Lorrie Davids(691) Blue Star

How to Train Your Dragon is a computer generated film your whole family will love, especially if you have pets. The movie was a hit at the box office and is continuing to be a hit in the rental and retail industry.

If you are on this Site, you probably have a pet or two or at the very least love animals. If you have ever owned a pet, you will have many warm moments watching this DVD. What makes it so successful?

The good guys don't die. I think one the the best things about the film is no one/thing is eliminated except the bad guy. This is important to me, even as an adult and I can't imagine being a kid with the violence and dying that is on the screens in these times. My kids didn't even like Bambi because of the scene when..well, you know.

Those feelings of protection. As the main character, a boy named Hiccup, is trying to figure out where he fits into his world he encounters a dragon. Humans and dragons are mortal enemies and his job is to eliminate it. Killing the dragon will make Hiccup great in the eyes of his family and peers. Looking into the dragon's eye he realizes he could never harm it. This is one of many spot sin the movie when you will melt. The emotions that are expressed in that scene will have you looking for your pet, just to let him know you love him and would never let harm come its way.

Caring. Hiccup realizes that Toothless needs him to live. Meeting the dragon's daily physical needs will resonate deep inside you and your kids.

Playfulness. As Hiccup learns more about his new dragon friend, he is surprised as he discovers a playful side that a vicious creature should not have. You will find yourself laughing as you see Hiccup and Toothless playing in the same ways you play with your pet.

Trust. As Hiccup and Toothless get to know each other, a trust bond is formed. Remember back to when you first met your pup. Remember the caution, especially if the dog was a little older. The expressions and movements were captured perfectly by the engineers of this film. You can see in the characters' actions and expressions as the level of trust increases.

Loyalty. Last, but certainly not least, think about your pet's loyalty. Think about how happy they are when you are home and how they choose you above anyone else. This film shows loyalty at its greatest.

Life lessons are taught by this film. It is not without its "jump scenes" and certainly has much action. This is a film your whole family will enjoy over and over. Toothless and Hiccup will entertain and remind you just how much you and your pets need each other.

I highly recommend this movie. We rented it, watched it twice and will be buying it soon. Have you seen the movie? What did you think?

Marijo, I am pretty confident you would like it.  At times the dragon is cat-like.  It is just a great feelgoodallover movie.  Thanks for reading and commenting.

Hi Lorrie.

We haven't seen it. But every time I see the ads for the DVD I think that I should go out and buy it. After reading your review, I'm going to have to do just that.

Thanks and hugs,

Dianne

Hey Dianne,

You should go for it.  Danny said it is on his Christmas list, but I doubt we wait that long to watch it again!  I think you will see bits of your favorite animal in it.  When Hiccup and Toothless first actually touch, it might just bring back memories of building trust with the horses.  Amazing movie!  Thanks for coming over here to read and comment!

I love Craig Ferguson & know he would not be attached to a "crap" act. Just thinking of him & the movie, I smile. Thanks for the review!
