A small Colorado town, Oak Creek, is home for Kandu, a 10.5 pound Jack Russel Terrier who was born without his front legs. Ken and Melissa Rogers adopted the pup when his original owner decided Kandu would never have a good quality of life and left him to be euthanized. What happened next is amazing! Add some creativity from Ken to Kandu's love of life and he can't be stopped!
Ken made a device from plastic and roller blade wheels for Cando. The 6.5 pound gadget allows Kandu the freedom to run and play. For snow days, Rogers made a snowboard of sorts for Kandu. Indoors, the pup wears the sleeve of a sweatshirt to protect his chest from surfaces he moves over.
Kandu is part of the Healing Friends program, regularly visiting hospitals, uplifting spirits and showing everyone what can be if you hold on to hope.
