Even in the animal world, you're only as good as your last success. Witness Berry (short for Shadowberry), a black German shepherd from the UK. Seven years ago he was on top of his game and a movie star, playing Sirius Black's animal avatar Padfoot in the movie "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban". Today he's in an animal shelter in the UK, desperately awaiting a home.
Berry's owner, trainer/stuntman Paul Thompson, turned Berry over to German Shepherd Dog Rescue in the United Kingdom, along with his companion Porridge, who was in several British television series. Thompson's work requirements meant he couldn't properly care for the two dogs. Berry, 10, and Porridge, 13, have been together since the former was a puppy, and as a result the two dogs can't live apart from each other.
If Berry paid any attention to the plot while he was filming his scenes in "Harry Potter", he knows that even in the darkest times there is hope. With the multitudes of Harry Potter fans that will be aware of his situation, I'm guessing that there will be at least one person who would love to have "Padfoot" and Porridge as a part of the family!
